The Story of Abraham

This page contains both small and large images of the Abraham mural.
The small images gives an immediate over view of each side of the mural.

The vertical white rectangles represent doors located in the hallway and/or reception windows.

Perfection of figure work was not required...the talents of the artists who painted the actual mural were looked to for the finish work, addition of more people, animals and buildings.

My purpose was to create a guide for Art Impact's crew of artists and their special talents.

This was my first mural for Art Impact.  It was the longest and most involved of the murals I designed for Bellevue.

The image on the right matches up with the image on the left, which matches up with the image on the right
just below it.  This way I have threaded the mural together for you.  This mural takes you on a journey from Ur, the city where Abraham grew up up the Euphrates river (note the meeting of the Tigras and the Euphrates in one of the panels) to Herron, down into Cannan, then on to Egypt and back up to Cannan.  The recitingof this story required interweaving complex and varying territories down the hallway, making certain that each side related to the other geographically.  One hundred and seventy feet seems like a long distance until one starts to do this sort of designing.

The two images below are the breaking point where we start down the other side of the hallway.  So the image on the right is the end of one side and the image on the left begins the other side.  The unfinished horse goes into reception area that was excluded in the final construction.  The Art Impact crew resolved this situation.

And now the image (above left) is the same as the first image at the top of the page.  The right side of this image matches the right panel image and the left side matches the left image, again at the top of the page.  That completes the mural.
